Governing Board

West Midlands Perinatal Institute (WMPI) was established in 2000 to address issues concerning perinatal morbidity and mortality in the Region. It is core-funded from Regional Levies and receives additional resources for specific projects carried out on the basis of service level agreements.

Since October 2006, WMPI has been hosted by Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT. Previously it was hosted by NHS West Midlands and its predecessors Birmingham and Black Country Strategic Health Authority and Birmingham Health Authority.

Since joining with Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT, new governance arrangements have been agreed and a new Board has been established, chaired by Dr Sandy Bradbrook (Chief Executive of HoB tPCT)

The inaugural meeting took place on 15th November 2006, and meetings are planned to be held four times per year.
