Mike Wyldes
Consultant O&G; Regional Coordinator, CAR and Ultrasound
Mike qualified from Oxford University in 1980 and Leicester Medical school in
1983. He undertook Junior and Senior House Officer posts in Leicester and Lincoln,
moving to Birmingham as a Registrar in 1987. He worked at the Birmingham Women's Hospital,
Selly Oak and Sorrento Maternity Hospitals and was a research fellow with the Perinatal
Audit from 1989 to 1991 based at Solihull Hospital. During this time he developed an
interest in Ultrasound and achieved the RCOG/RCR Diploma in 1991. He was appointed Senior
Registrar at Walsall Hospital in 1992 and took up his Consultant Post at Heartlands
Hospital in 1994.
He is the labour ward lead for Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals and has maintained his
interest in Obstetric Ultrasound. He has been the convenor and secretary to the Regional
Ultrasound Group since 1994.
He spends one session per week at the Perinatal Institute and supports the regional
congenital anomaly register as his major role.
